General Info: Hostos Community College Access Policy
Access to campus buildings and grounds is a privilege extended to
students, faculty, staff, and guests. The college is open Monday through Saturday (7:00
a.m. to 10:00 p.m.). The college is also open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00
p.m. on Sundays. Active faculty, staff, and registered students with
proper authorization are permitted into the building at all times during
normal hours of operation. Any registered student, active faculty,
and/or staff member who requires access during non-normal business hours
must notify their unit director/chairperson and /or vice president via
email or other written form.
The college encourages
an open environment with limitations to insure adequate protection of
all members of the college community. At night and during times when
the campus is officially closed, college buildings are locked.”
Please note that the college is officially closed at the
following times: From 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. daily, Monday
through Saturday, and from 6:00 p.m. on Sunday to 7:00 a.m. on Monday.
During hours when our facilities are closed and locked, four public
safety officers are assigned to patrol the entire campus. Regrettably,
our budget does not permit us to maintain a larger force at these
times. When personnel have a particular need to remain on campus after
hours, accommodation is possible, but approval must be obtained in
advance. Otherwise, if you happen to be working late and a public
safety officer notifies you that the college is closing, we request that
you leave the premises promptly. Thank you very much for your
cooperation.
