Crime Prevention Links: Help for Incidents of Domestic Violence & Rape
In the United States:
You Don’t Have To Go At It Alone.
The Crime Victims Treatment Center, founded in 1977, is the largest hospital-based program in New York State. They provide counseling, support and advocacy for victims and their families who have suffered through domestic violence, rape and other violent crimes.
Trained rape crisis and domestic violence advocates are available to aid survivors and their families at each Emergency Department site, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Their new Sexual Assault Forensic Examiners (SAFE) program provides specially trained nurses and physicians who understand the emotional, physical and psychological trauma of rape. They provide sensitive medical care and have expertise in forensic evidence collection and examination that will be helpful if the survivor pursues criminal prosecution.
The Crime Victims Treatment Center works to make a difference for survivors of sexual and domestic violence.
