The Hostos Community College Children’s Center, Inc. is a daycare program that allows students of the Hostos Community College to attend classes while their children (within the ages of two through four) are in a safe environment. Cultural diversity, language acquisition, and age appropriate practices are seen as keys in meeting the educational, social, emotional, and physical needs of children and their families.
Parents are essential partners in our team approach. We believe that the care and education of young children must be carried out collaboratively with parents and qualified teachers and staff. All of the experiences, activities, routines and transitions prepared and planned for children must be appropriate to their age level.
The Center is also in liaison with various departments here at Hostos as well as with various community organizations. These contacts provide workshops on nutrition, parenting, stress management and other topics of interest to the student parents throughout the academic year.
The Hostos Community College Children's Center, Inc. (the Center) is a privately incorporated, campus-based childcare center licensed by the New York City Department of Health. The Center undergoes a periodic comprehensive inspection and all Center employees must fulfill all clearance requirements. These requirements include but are not limited to fingerprinting, child abuse screening and an annual physical examination.
