Ask the Caiman!

Welcome to Hostos' Virtual Advisor

Ask the Caiman a question.

Ask real questions like:
What is Hostos' freshman admission criteria?

Important: Students must be advised every semester to ensure academic progress.

All new students must be cleared for enrollment before they can meet with an academic advisor and complete registration.  New students will be contacted and informed when they can come for advisement based on how soon their documentation and testing status is in order.

  • New Freshman students are advised by advisors from the New STARS Center during early registration periods prior to each semester.
  • New Transfer students are advised by their academic departments.

Continuing students should meet with an advisor from their academic department.  If you are a continuing student (currently in attendance) and you do not know who your advisor is, please contact your academic department or the Director of Academic Advisement:  wtaylor@hostos.cuny.edu

All students need to learn how to use the on-line academic planning and registration tools available.  Online tutorials are available and a PowerPoint information slides may be downloaded.

Notes:
* All students placed into ESL 015/025/035 (regardless of major) must get advised by the Language and Cognition Department in B-529

* All Allied Health students must go to their respective academic departments for advisement:
Nursing: A-307, Radiologic Technology: A-307, Dental Hygiene: B-110

** For assistance with using e-sims, students should visit the registration assistance computer lab during early registration. Personnel from the Registrar’s office will be available to help.
