Welcome to Hostos Community College New Student Orientation! The information and events contained in this orientation will connect you with the people, services, and resources available at Hostos Community College that can help you succeed in your educational journey.  Make a smooth transition by exploring the many programs and services offered by the college and by learning about the expectations that we have of all our students.  So join us and enjoy the tour!

We offer orientation online as well as hold New Student Orientation Events for new students at Hostos Community College.  At this point, you should have already been admitted to the college, scheduled for the placement exams, and are on pre-registration status for classes. This orientation can also help current students who still have questions about the college.

Why Go Through an Orientation?

  • To learn about Hostos Community College, our services to you.
  • To help you become successful in your college journey.
  • To help you become acquainted with the college way of life so that you can more quickly adjust.
  • To make you aware of your rights and responsibilities as a student.

Part 1 - In-Person Orientation
 What: The first component of your orientation to Hostos Community College is an "in-person" orientation, called New Student Orientation (NSO).  Come connect with faculty, staff, and student leaders as well as other new students.    Faculty members will be available to speak with you and we will distribute important information and a booklet for you to read which will help you to improve your grades.   After that, meet representatives of several departments, such as Student Services, Student Activities, the Hostos Adult Learning Center (HALC), the Peer Advisors, the Writing Center, and the Learning Resource Centers (library) to find out more about their services. Also, representatives of the student government organizations and clubs will be there to tell you more about themselves and welcome you to join them.  And, of course, no gathering is complete without food!  We will have either breakfast or lunch available for you and your guest(s)!

Part 2 - Online Orientation
This interactive orientation program lets you make the connections to the information, services, and resources available at Hostos from the comfort of your home.  The program covers many things you should know before classes begin, and to help you throughout your first year.  So, start the journey now and bookmark the page to make it easy to find.
