Hostos Community College offers students a wide array of extracurricular activities to participate in during their spare time. Students can take advantage of the events organized by the Office of Student Activities, the Student Leadership Academy, the Student Government Association (SGA), student organizations, academic departments and several other entities within the campus. A large number of the activities that take place during the year are organized by student organizations. These organizations represent a variety of interest and fall into four different categories: Academic, Cultural, Religious or Special Interest. The following organizations will be active during the fall semester: Clubs and OrganizationsAbility Awareness Club—To help the Hostos community to understand disabilities and to advance the goals of students with disabilities. African Club—To gather African students with the interest of sharing their values and characteristics to promote cultural diversity. Aging & Health Club—To offer future professionals in elder care the opportunity to collaborate with each other and gain a meaningful experience in the community. Art Club—To gather artists to support and help broaden their skills with artistic projects. Athletic Club—To help students explore their talents in performing and visual arts (the art of building the mind and body) to become aware of their health. Audio Engineering Club—To further our knowledge and expertise in our desired musical field. Billiards Club— To teach and give knowledge to students in the art of billiards. To create an environment in which students get along socially and network with one another. Black Male Initiative (BMI) Club—To provide strong leadership, increase admission and graduation rates, supporting campus based projects. Black Student Union—To educate and promote unity among the ethnically diverse student body. Career Club— To provide service in the form of academic, personal and professional development. Chemistry Club—To stimulate interest in Chemistry and the science that is involved with Chemistry by demonstration and interaction. Christian Messengers Club—To help the students by providing counseling, Christian advice, support and guidance. Criminal Justice Club—To complement practice in the field of their educational background and criminal justice discipline. Dental Hygiene Club— To engage in student activities that will promote the professional growth and development of members. Design & Animation Club—To introduce students to a variety of working professional from the fields of graphic design, animation, illustration and music. Dominican Club– To advance knowledge of Dominican culture within the Hostos community. Engineering Club—To gather Hostos students and engineering enthusiasts into an environment which is most conducive to their perspective academic proficiency. English Club—To provide social, educational, cultural and creative activities which promote interest and strengthen abilities in the English language. Environmental Science Club—To inspire and teach Hostos students to take care of the environment as their own home. Filipino-American Club—To foster awareness of Filipino culture on campus and within the community. Film Club—To teach students who are interested in learning about film different techniques used in filming. Future Physical Education Teacher Club—To learn about the field of Physical Education through educational activities. Haitian Club—To promote the Haitian culture and be in the interest of every student at Hostos Community College. He is the Rock Club—To gather all Christians on campus, who shares the same faith as us. Health Club—To build awareness of health related issues including eating habits, physical activities and bring about healthy behaviors. Hispanic Studies Society—To encourage a greater interest and a deeper understanding among college students of Hispanic culture. Honors Club—To promote and encourage scholastic achievement and to recognize high standards of scholarship among students. Math Club—To promote and demystify Mathematic studies at Hostos. Muslim Student Association—To educate students about the religion of Islam and the various Muslim cultures. New Hope & Success—To provide emotional support to students and introduce students to educational activities beyond the college. Newspaper Club—To keep the student body informed with campus news and extra-curricular activities that surround Hostos. Nursing Club—To establish a means of communication between Nursing students, faculty, administration, and the student body at large. Physics Club— To provide a means for Physics students who are at different places in their academic careers to interact with one another. Ping Pong Club—To promote friendship, and sportsmanship among different ethnic groups of students. Public Administration Club— To provide advocacy and to train fellow students in the study and practice of Public Administration, by preparing them to become innovative leaders. Puerto Rican Club—To insure that Hostos students are aware of the culture and the contributions of the Puerto Rican community. Robotics Club—To increase knowledge and experience through research, the integration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics as well as increase scientific curiosity. Science Club—To open the world of Science to our minority students. To develop hands on experiences, field trips and academic activities. Soccer Club—To provide a safe and fun environment that enables students to learn teamwork. Social Latin Club—To unite the different Spanish cultures and share their history among the students. Student Success Coaches Club—To ensure that students are knowledgeable about college resources, activities on campus, and stay-on-track supportive services. Teachers of the Future—To offer fellow teachers and staff the opportunity to have a lasting relationship with one another and have a common intellect in our educational community. Theater Club—To perform and assess theatrical performances and encourage theatrical involvement of the Hostos campus community. Veterans Club—To create awareness about veterans at the college and provide opportunities for veteran students to meet one another and share their experiences. Video Game Club—To help students release stress from classes by sharing fun moments with other students. West Indian Club—To educate and inform students about the West Indian cultures through arts, food and entertainment. X-Ray Club—To disseminate information which will enlighten the people within the Radiology field.
