The New STARS Center
Student Advisement and Retention Services

The New Student Advisement and Retention Services Center [New Stars] is a bridge into the college for new students. The Center provides academic advisement to first-semester students and monitors their retention and academic progress. New Stars helps students navigate academic requirements, the college culture, and the self-discovery that a college education implies by conducting New Student Orientation and supporting students throughout the first year. It empowers them to become actively engaged in their own education by developing awareness, teaching necessary skills, and challenging students to set high, yet realistic self expectations that reinforce their educational goals.

WELCOME!

The New STARS Center is your information and advisement resource for your first semester at Hostos.  At the New STARS Center Online site you can explore your new school and learn how to locate important offices and key people, ranging from staff to faculty to student activities and events.  All new students are required to attend a New Student Orientation and you can reserve a place at the next session by clicking here. In the meantime, you can learn about Hostos by exploring New Student Orientation online.
