Eugenio Maria de Hostos Community College’s Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development has 7 credit articulation agreements where students who complete a CEWD cerificate are eligible for college credit at Hostos. The role of the Transition & Advising Coordinator is to help students from our programs transition to college; the coordinator provides outreach to CEWD students about Hostos' degree programs and informs them of the credit they may be eligible for. Hostos is developing a policy on credit for prior learning that will allow students who have college-level learning gained outside the classroom to apply for credit, if that learning corresponds to a course offered at Hostos. The methods used to assess this prior learning may include standardized exams, third-party credit evaluations, challenge exams, and portfolios. A Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) committee and PLA office will oversee the assessment and credit-granting process.
