Device Loaner System

We are pleased to re-start the Student Device Loaner Program for the semester. This program is made to support current students who need access to loaner devices, such as laptops, to help succeed in their academic endeavors. 

Students can borrow these laptops from the Service Desk (Information Technology Department) to work on assignments, conduct research, attend virtual classes and classwork requiring a laptop. Loaner requests are processed on a first-come first-served basis. Any remaining requests are placed on a waiting list.

Eligibility: 

  • Must be currently enrolled in classes. 
  • Must not have any holds on their account. 
  • Must not have a history of delinquency in laptop returns. 
  • Must not have a history of damaged equipment. 
 
Rules: 
  • Loan Period: Devices are loaned for a maximum of two weeks from date of loan. 
  • Renewal: Devices can only be returned. Renewals are not permitted. 
    • A new request can be made AFTER the loaner has been returned and a new request put in.  
    • Loaner requests are processed on a first-come first-served basis. Any remaining requests are placed on a waiting list.  
  • Responsibility: Students are solely responsible for the device until its return. 
  • Software: Users cannot add or remove software. 
  • Transfer: Devices cannot be transferred to other students. 
  • Availability: Devices are loaned based on availability. 
  • Limit: One device per student at a time. 
  • Return: Devices must be returned within the deadline (2 weeks from loan start) to avoid any administrative holds on the student’s account.

REMINDER -  When Picking Up a Device: 
  • Bring your valid Hostos ID. 
  • Sign the consent form. 
  • Arrange for your own bag, as bags will not be provided.
