Biography:  Professor Marta Rivera holds two master’s degrees including a master’s of clinical psychology. She was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and studied at Fordham University. Professor Rivera has a long history at Hostos and worked as a mediator and a counselor when students took over the building in 1980. She has been a fierce advocate for Hostos students and served as the Director of the Center for Women and Immigrant Rights for five years, which provided services to students seeking help with domestic violence and/or immigration. Her extensive departmental service includes serving as an administrative coordinator for the department and a unit coordinator.
