Mathematics Awards Criteria 


The Gold Medal Mathematics Award
 
The Gold Medal Mathematics Award is for outstanding achievement in Mathematics by a graduating student who has completed at least 11 credits beyond MAT 160, including Calculus II, with at least a 3.5 Grade Point Average in Mathematics.
 
The Silver Medal Mathematics Award
 
The Silver Mathematics Award is for outstanding achievement in Mathematics by a graduating student who has completed at least 6 credits beyond Mat 160 including Calculus II, with at least a 3.5 Grade Point Average in Mathematics.
 
The Bronze Medal Mathematics Award
 
The Bronze Medal Mathematics Award is for outstanding academic growth in Mathematics by a student initially placed in a developmental Mathematics course who has completed at least 8 credits of Mathematics beyond MAT 150, including Calculus I, with at least a 3.5 Grade Point Average in Mathematics.


Computer Science Awards Criteria 

 

The Gold Medal Computer Science Award

The Gold Medal Computer Science Award is for outstanding achievement in Computer Science by a graduating student who has completed at least 11 credits beyond MAT 160, including CSC 215 Modern Programming, with at least a 3.5 Grade Point Average in Computer science. 

The Silver Medal Computer Science Award

The Silver Computer Science Award is for outstanding achievement in Computer Science by a graduating student who has completed at least 6 credits beyond Mat 160, including CSC 215 Modern Programming, with at least a 3.5 Grade Point Average in Computer science.

The Bronze Medal Computer Science Award

The Bronze Medal Computer Science Award is for outstanding academic growth in Computer Science by a student initially placed in a developmental Mathematics course who has completed at least 8 credits of Mathematics beyond MAT 150, including CSC 205 Discrete Mathematics, with at least a 3.5 Grade Point Average in Computer Science.

 

The Mathematics and Computer Science Scholars (MACSS) Program

The Mathematics and Computer Science Scholars (MACSS) Program is a NSF S-STEM Scholarship available to students pursuing a Mathematics or Computer Science Associate Degree.  MACSS is implemented at Hostos to increase the access and success of low-income and academically talented undergraduates by awarding scholarships to qualified students until their graduation. All applicants must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or above and meet all the eligibility requirements as detailed in the link below.
