What To Expect At The Career Expo

 
For students who have never been to a career expo before, we know it can be overwhelming!
Frequently asked questions:
 

• Should I go to the Career Expo? 
  • Yes! This is a wonderful opportunity to meet employers face-to-face. If you are looking for a job or internship, take the opportunity to get information and meet the recruiter. If you are not job-seeking, talk to employers and start networking! These relationships will help you when you are ready to look for a job.

• How can I prepare?
  • View the Career Fair Guide
  • You can visit the Career Services Office in the Savoy (D) Building, Room 210 or call 718-518-4468 and/or email careerservices@hostos.cuny.edu.
  • How To Achieve Career Fair Success – Candid Career
  • Watch the Video: How to Fill Out Common Resume Sections 
  • Sign-up with Skillshop, Grow with Google, for guidance on creating a resume and cover letter. Complete Path 3: Land a Great Job: Students use digital tools to search for a job, write a resume and cover letter, and learn how to stand out in interviews while conveying their personal brand throughout.
  • Watch the video to view appropriate business attire to wear for the Career Expo! 
  • Visit the Career Services- Caiman Professional Wardrobe for free business attire.   
• Who will be there?
  • Over 50 organizations, including employers from all industries, Career Services  staff, and fellow students/alumni! The organizations are eager to meet students, so don’t be afraid! If you have questions, find a Career Services Staff member—we are here to help!

• Where will the employers be?
  • ​You will check-in at the SGA Counter. After checking in, enter the GYM, you will sign in at our welcome table. We will provide you with an organization list and map to help you navigate the room. If you are looking for a specific organization, a Career Services staff member can point you in the right direction.

• What do I bring?
  • ​ Bring plenty of copies of your resume, questions to ask, and yourself! Visit Career Services in advance to print your resume and access business attire (limited quantities).
