The Office of Academic Advisement is dedicated to the promotion of academic advising and career development. The Academic Advisement office recognizes the potential for students' personal, social and academic growth, and encourages students to maximize their individual strengths, knowledge and skills to foster growth and to excel academically. This office serves a student population of over 6000 students who pursue associate degree programs in various majors, and is committed to assist with the advisement of all currently enrolled students. It is the responsibility of the Office of Academic Advisement to provide guidance, information and advising assistance to our students. In addition, we make sure that faculty advisors have accurate information and are accessible to students during advising sessions.

Goals for Academic Advising:
The Office of Academic Advisement has established a set of defined goals and objectives for the academic advising process:

  • To encourage a supportive and educational environment that exemplifies professionalism and a commitment to student success.
  • To teach students to become engaged, self-directed and competent decision makers in developing educational plans that are consistent with their life goals.
  • To foster ongoing advising relationships between faculty advisors and students.
  • To continue to establish innovative ways to facilitate students feeling engaged and connected to the Advisement Office and the college.
  • To maintain and improve the college-wide online advising tools.
  • To promote awareness of curricula items and amendments.

The Office of Academic Advisement is committed to a proactive advising model of academic advising and provides professional advising related services to the following cohorts:
Continuing Students (Liberal Arts and Pre-Nursing in good academic standing).
Readmitted Students (good academic standing).
All students (good academic standing) after the last day of classes. (Except dual/joint degree academic programs).
