Professional Program Disclosures

As defined by NC-SARA, licensed profession program disclosure requirements are not satisfied by a description of licensed program accreditations or by an instruction to students/applicants to determine requirements for their state.  Federal regulations (34 §C.F.R. 668.43) that went into effect July 1, 2020 require institutions to provide the following information on their website about licensed professions programs:
  1. A list of all States for which the institution has determined that its curriculum meets the State educational requirements for licensure or certification;
  2. A list of all States for which the institution has determined that its curriculum does not meet the State educational requirements for licensure or certification; and
  3. A list of all States for which the institution has not made a determination that its curriculum meets the State educational requirements for licensure or certification;
In addition, SARA policy has made adherence to 34 §C.F.R. 668.43 a component of SARA participation. SARA requires that institutions first make all reasonable efforts to make a determination for each state. “Institutions that are unable, after all reasonable efforts, to determine whether a program will meet each state’s professional licensure requirements shall provide the student or applicant with current contact information for any applicable licensing boards, and advise the student or applicant to determine whether the program meets requirements for licensure in the state where the student is located.” (See SARA Policy Manual “5.2 Programs leading to Professional Licensure”)
