
Julie Gafney
Vice President of Institutional Advancement
Dr. Julie Gafney serves as Vice President for Institutional Advancement. She joins Hostos from Fordham University, where she served as Associate Vice President for Strategic Mission Initiatives, bringing extensive experience in institutional advancement, strategic planning, large-scale fundraising, and cross-sector partnerships. Over the course of her career, Dr. Gafney has secured and stewarded more than $75 million in external funding, including serving as Principal Investigator for a $60 million EPA Thriving Communities Grantmaker Program—Fordham’s largest grant to date. She has led complex, cross-functional teams; cultivated high-net-worth donors; and represented institutions in engagements with elected officials, funders, and trustees. A proud graduate of City University of New York, she holds a Ph.D. from CUNY Graduate Center, an M.A. from University of Chicago, and a B.A. from Tufts University, and is poised to advance Hostos’s mission through expanded partnerships and philanthropic support.
