Nurturing Young Minds Since 1983

The Hostos Community College Children’s Center has proudly served as a trusted campus-based childcare provider since 1983. We support the early childhood educational and developmental needs of children while their parents pursue academic and professional goals. We are recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and are licensed by the New York City Department of Health & Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), ensuring that we meet high standards of health, safety, and program quality.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide students, faculty, and staff of Hostos Community College with access to a safe, nurturing, affordable, and high-quality educational environment for their children.
We proudly serve as a support program for Hostos families, preparing children for kindergarten and beyond. While parents work toward their higher education goals, we ensure their children are learning, growing, and thriving in a supportive environment.

Our Educational Approach

At the Children’s Center, we implement a standards-based, research-informed curriculum that supports the whole child. Our program promotes:
  • Social and Emotional Development – Building confidence, empathy, and positive relationships
  • Physical Development – Encouraging healthy movement and motor skills
  • Cognitive Development – Fostering curiosity, problem-solving, and early academic skills
Our goal is to empower children to become confident, capable, and lifelong learners.

Family Engagement

We believe strong partnerships with families are essential. We actively engage parents through:
  • Ongoing workshops
  • Family-centered activities
  • Regular communication and collaboration
Together, we support the holistic development of every child.
