Frances Belcher Moore Webb, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, born November 5th, 1929, passed away peacefully at home on June 15 at 94 years. She is predeceased by her husband Wm. David Webb who died in 2020 having been married for 68 years. She is also predeceased by her parents Jared B. Moore and Mildred Downs Moore of Chatham, NJ, and her sister, Dr. Mildred Rust.
She is survived by her daughters: Andra Minio (John), Deena Moss (Edward), Aerie Webb-Anderson (David Shulman) and Tara Webb Duey (John Duey); her grandchildren: Holly Wilson, Bonnie Lock (John), Katia Duey (Shawn Darragh), Lyla Duey (Daniel Schultz), Lucia Unger (Jesse), Corin Duey, and Harrison Moss, as well as her great grandchildren: Galadriel, Starry, Hannah, Isaiah, Catherine, Judah, Saoirse, Viveca, Dylan, Ida, Emmeline, and Orla. Her family was everything to her.
Frances was a passionate and accomplished writer, having started that path in childhood. She earned an MFA at Columbia University and continued writing for the rest of her life - even into her last weeks. Her short stories and poetry are published in several literary journals and her novels can be found on Amazon.
Frances served on the faculty at Hostos Community College where she taught ESL (English as a Second Language) classes for many years. She was very attached to her colleagues and her students, and later established a scholarship fund to support student-parents managing the challenges of attending classes and finding childcare.
Relatives and friends are invited to Frances's visitation from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. followed by her memorial service at 1:30 p.m. at Grace Presbyterian Church 444 York Rd. Jenkintown, PA 19046.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Frances M. Webb Endowed Scholarship Fund for student-parents at Hostos Community College.
