The session will cover the fundamentals of securing research funding, including tools and strategies for navigating today's uncertain funding landscape. Topics include funding culture and review processes, building relationships with funders, and writing competitive proposals.

About the Presenter:
 
Susan Carter, J.D. is a consultant in research development, research administration and building research infrastructure, serving currently with the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) VOLARÉ Program and the NORDP Consultants Program at Emory University, both funded through the National Science Foundation GRANTED Program. She has over twenty five years of experience in leadership positions in research development and as a research funding officer and administrator. She has extensive skills and knowledge in the areas of building, staffing and evaluating research development and sponsored research offices; development of the research and research training enterprise at Minority Serving and Hispanic Serving Institutions; and in providing support for faculty teams and individuals engaged in complex, cutting edge science. She has consulted, published, and presented extensively on grant getting strategies, faculty development, broadening participation, effective research administration, and team scholarship.
