The Office of Academic Affairs, with the support of Ms. MacKenzie Scott’s Gift: President’s Initiatives, is excited to announce the
3rd Annual Hostos Student Symposium, a celebration of student excellence across disciplines. The event will take place on
Monday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at various locations on campus.
Students from all academic fields are encouraged to apply to present a project, paper, performance, or poster from their
Fall 2024 or Spring 2025 coursework. Whether an individual or group presentation, this is a chance to showcase your hard work and receive a
stipend, certificate, prizes, and an invitation for you and a guest to a celebratory luncheon on the day of the event.
This is also a valuable opportunity to strengthen your mentorship relationship with faculty, as they will guide you through the application and presentation process, ensuring you feel confident in sharing your work.
“Students interested in participating should reach out to their professor to confirm their support as a faculty mentor,” said Andrea Fabrizio, Dean of Academic Affairs. “This is an amazing opportunity for our students to feel and be seen through public speaking – a tangible way of putting into practice what they learn in the classroom. It’s important that our students know that their achievements and the effort they put into their work are worthy of being celebrated.”
Last year’s symposium featured nearly 120 student presenters, and the goal for 2025 is to grow that number.
Applications are due by Monday, March 3 here.
