Hostos Community College’s 45th Anniversary Book Wins National Award

Monday, February 10, 2014 (Bronx, NY) -
The “I AM HOSTOS” campaign during the celebration of Eugenio María de Hostos Community College’s 45th Anniversary in 2013 provided the inspiration for a special book profiling 45 individuals who have helped to make this college the remarkable institution it is today.

Now the Hostos family is pleased to announce that 45 VOICES: CELEBRATING 45 YEARS (HYPERLINK http://www.hostos.cuny.edu/45Profiles/) has received a gold certificate in the 2013 Collegiate Advertising Awards (CAA).

This was the first year for the competition, which was created to recognize outstanding communication, marketing and advertising initiatives at colleges and universities throughout the United States and Canada. More than 700 entries were judged by a panel of design and education marketing professionals, and Hostos was in competition with those submitted by similarly-sized two year colleges. Selection criteria included creativity, layout and design, functionality, message effectiveness, production quality and overall appeal.

As Hostos President Félix V. Matos Rodríguez states in the preface to this book, “Our own stories, along with those of so many others, help tell the 45-year history of this proud college. Here are 45 authentic voices that give meaning to the phrase ‘I AM HOSTOS.’” We are gratified and honored that the judges agreed.
