Hostos Community College is proud to announce its recognition in three significant national accolades that highlight its commitment to academic excellence and student success. For 2024, the College has been ranked #7 in Intelligent.com’s "Best Community Colleges in New York" list and #5 among the top Practical Nursing programs in New York roster by PracticalNursing.org. For a third time, Hostos also secured a place among the Aspen Prize Top 150 U.S. Community Colleges.

Best Community Colleges in New York

Hostos Community College has once again earned a place on the "Best Community Colleges in New York" list for 2024, compiled by Intelligent.com, a student-focused website that helps those shopping for colleges make better learning choices for their academic careers. Ranked #7 among the 31 colleges honored, Hostos made the list after an evaluation of over 3,000 academic institutions. The selection process considered various criteria, including academic quality, graduation rates, affordability, return on investment (ROI), and the breadth of student resources.

Practical Nursing Program Excellence

PracticalNursing.org, a leading resource for LPN/LVN students, has also recognized Hostos’ Practical Nursing (PN) program as one of the top programs in New York State. Standing at #5 out of 58 programs assessed, Hostos was acknowledged by PracticalNursing.org for its excellence in the field.  

Aspen Prize Top 150 U.S. Community College

Once more, Hostos has been named a 2025 Aspen Prize Top 150 U.S. Community College, solidifying its place among the nation's premier community colleges. Out of 1,000 two-year institutions nationwide, Hostos has received this recognition, making it eligible to compete for the prestigious Aspen Prize, which is awarded every two years and comes with a reward of $1 million.

Hostos was selected as one of 10 finalists for the 2023 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence for a second time in June 2022. The Aspen Prize, often referred to as the "Oscars of community colleges," is awarded by the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program. This recognition reflects Hostos' unwavering commitment to delivering high, improving, and equitable student outcomes.
