Una Navidad Nuyorkina
Arturo O’Farrill & the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra
Celebrating 40 years of Los Pleneros de la 21

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the beloved East Harlem Bomba y Plena drum and dance ensemble Los Pleneros de la 21 (LP21), Arturo O’Farrill & the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra perform with LP21 for a not-to-be-missed holiday musical extravaganza. Founded in 1983 by Juan J. ‘Juango’ Gutiérrez (National Endowment for the Arts’ Heritage Fellow, 1996) and the legendary Master Plenero, the GRAMMY Award-nominated LP21has pioneered the road for Afro-Puerto Rican cultural expressions, namely Bomba and Plena performances across the globe.

“Their enthusiasm, showmanship, and command of the genre has won Los Pleneros de la 21
a respected place in folk and world music circles, with their performances can be described
as magical melting of the invisible curtain between performers and audience and their
drumming is incendiary, complex and precise, made the room rock.”
