Writer and composer Armando Pacheco Matos narrates the life of a young man from el Barrio de San Antón in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Using the island’s musical traditions of Bomba, Plena, Música Jíbara, Bolero and Danza, he recounts the young man’s early life in the island before leaving for the Bronx. Nineteen (19) original songs interweave the story of the young man within the backdrop and history of his neighborhood, its people, and their experiences.
The acclaimed musical group Patria y Cultura direct from Ponce, Puerto Rico, will perform live on the Hostos stage with interludes performed by the youth group Young Ambition Dance Company.
