Professional Development and Study Abroad Program

The Summer Professional Development Program on the Education of Dominicans is an international teacher training offered by Hostos Community College in collaboration with partners in the Dominican Republic. This intensive three-week institute of workshops, seminars, and international field research is designed and facilitated by CUNY faculty, the New York City Department of Education, and various community service groups, as well as their counterparts at partner Dominican schools and organizations. Participants acquire a deeper understanding of a Latin American educational system, the New York City immigrant experience, as well as the socio-economic and cultural challenges to academic and career success. The exchange supports professionals seeking to create more effective and inclusive learning and community services environments. Participants earn Continuing Teacher and Leader Education Hours (CTLE).
