Transcripts

Transcripts, whether for transfer, employment, or any other reason, are never sent automatically. Each transcript must be specifically requested in order to safeguard the privacy of each student's official records from unauthorized review. Please note that If your transcript is in CUNYfirst, CUNY Admission/Registrar staff can access your record if needed for transfer credit evaluation and/or admission processing.

The quickest and most convenient way to send a transcript is to order it online. In most cases, transcripts are sent on the same day as the order is received. For details, see Option #1 on this page. There are two kinds of transcripts: Unofficial/Student copies and Official copies.

Unofficial/Student transcripts

These are unofficial copies that the student can request for his or her own records. Unofficial/Student transcripts may be processed immediately at the Registrar’s office, except during busy times (first two weeks of the semester). For information on how to request an Unofficial/Student transcript online, please click here

Official transcripts

These are sent directly to other colleges and/or employers. It is the policy of Hostos not to release official copies of transcripts directly to students. No Official transcripts can be sent to a student's home address. Only an Unofficial/Student copy of the transcript can be sent. Official transcripts in sealed envelopes can be provided to students only when students provide documentation from the receiving institution requesting a sealed Official transcript to be either hand-delivered or submitted with additional documentation.**
**Exceptions:  Police Department, Department of Motor Vehicles and the Department of Education

How do I request a copy of my transcript?

There is a $7.00 fee for transcripts sent to agencies/institutions that are outside CUNY. There is no fee for transcripts sent to another CUNY College or CUNY- affiliated program.

You can request an official copy of your academic transcript (with the college's seal and signature of the Registrar) or a student copy (unofficial copy) in the three following ways :

1. ONLINE

Both Official and Unofficial/Student copies may be ordered online for your convenience. The City University of New York has recruited Parchment to accept transcript orders over the Internet. Students ordering over the internet should allow 2 to 3 business days to process the transcript request. Students who were enrolled prior to 1980 may take longer to be processed.

To utilize this service, students will need to provide their CUNY EMPLID or social security number, telephone number, a valid major credit card (Visa, Master Card, American Express or Discover) and the name and address of the party they are sending the transcript to.

FOR SOME USERS, YOU MAY NEED TO DISABLE ANY POP-UP BLOCKER(S) ON YOUR BROWSER TO ACCESS THE ONLINE ORDERING SYSTEM

Please DO NOT use the online request link to send transcripts to the University Application Processing Center (UAPC). Visit the Registrar's Office in Room D-207 during business hours if you have recieved notification from UAPC requesting a transcript. Please bring the UAPC letter with you. If you are not requesting a transcript to UAPC, click on Parchment to continue.

In accordance with the policies of the City University of New York, there is no transcript fee for transcripts going from one CUNY college to another CUNY college or affiliated units. If your transcript is in CUNYfirst, CUNY Admission/Registrar staff can access your record if needed for transfer credit evaluation and/or admission processing.

Students ordering Official transcripts in person should allow 3 to 5 business days to process the transcript request. Students who were enrolled prior to 1980 may take longer to be processed.
