Hostos Community College will host a discussion with Dr. Felecia Russell, author of “Amplifying Black Undocumented Student Voices in Higher Education” (2024) and Director of the Higher Ed Immigration Portal at the Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration (The Portal).

In a conversation moderated by Cynthia Carvajal, CUNY Director of Undocumented and Immigrant Student Programs, Dr. Russell will delve into career aspirations and pathways for undocumented students, centering the intersectional experiences of Black immigrant community members. She will also discuss information covered in her book, which centers on the stories of Black undocumented students and her own experiences as a Black DACA recipient.

The Hostos Scholarship Office organizes this event in collaboration with the division of Student Development and Enrollment Management (SDEM), the New York State Youth Leadership Council, CUNY Undocumented and Immigrant Student Programs, CUNY Black Male Initiative, TheDream.US, Hostos Scholarship Club, LEADS, and Baruch College.
