The CUNY Emergency COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate has Ended

On Tuesday, April 11, 2023, CUNY announced it is ending the Emergency COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate. The determination to make this change was made in consultation with State and City health officials. CUNY's lifting of the vaccine mandate also aligns with the federal government's ending of the Public Health Emergency for COVID-19 effective May 11, 2023. With the end of the vaccine mandate, students are now able to enroll in classes, starting with the Summer 2023 sessions, regardless of their COVID-19 vaccination status.

In addition to lifting the vaccine mandate, CUNY has ended the COVID-19 testing program and closed all test sites on campuses and Central Office.  Other COVID-19 counter-measures have also ended including the use of the Cleared4 health verification platform. Hostos has returned to pre-pandemic standard procedures for granting campus access to faculty, staff, students, and visitors without the need for showing proof of vaccination or a negative PCR upon entry.

If a student, faculty member, or staff tests positive for COVID-19, and is not feeling well, they are encouraged to remain home similar to any other illness.  Hostos recommends following all public health guidance and CDC suggested practices which include staying up to date on vaccinations, staying home when ill, and taking any other precautions necessary to avoid the spread of COVID-19 and any other contagious viruses.
