Jeffery Hidalgo

I live in Fordham, Bronx. I have been a student at Hostos for four years, and I am currently a junior. I'm graduating as a Digital Design major and plan to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in film. I am also a member of the PTK Honors Society, Alpha Tau Chapter, here at Hostos. I joined the FYE program as a way to give back to the community—the same help and support that Hostos gave me during my academic journey. I believe that being there for students as a guide and someone they can trust can make a big difference in their academic journey. In my free time, I like to develop my skills in drawing and writing, as one of my biggest dreams is to publish a story I’ve been working on since 2012. I also enjoy listening to music and reading. Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have about Hostos or CUNY in general. ¡También hablo español si necesitas ayuda en español!

Akoli Sessi

I live in the Bronx and have been attending Hostos for three semesters. Currently, I'm a sophomore majoring in Liberal Arts and Science (A.A.S.), and my goal is to become a registered nurse and make a positive impact in my community. I am a member of the Leadership Academy and the Emerging Leadership Program. I joined the First Year Experience (FYE) Program because I understand how challenging it can be to adjust to college life—especially during the first year. Being part of FYE allows me to support new students, share my own experiences, and help create a welcoming environment. I'm here to help you feel more connected and confident in your first year. Sometimes, just knowing someone is there to support you can make a big difference, and I’m excited to be that person. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, reading, and learning more about healthcare and science. Music helps me relax, while reading lets me explore different viewpoints and cultures. Je parle aussi français si vous avez besoin d'aide en français, eye medoa Eʋegbe hã nyuie!

Fabian Richard-Powell

I live in Mount Vernon, Westchester, and I’m currently in my third semester majoring in Game Design. I’m involved in clubs and activities such as the Tabletop Club, Esports, Origami, Gaming, Indie Arts, and Animation. I joined the First Year Experience (FYE) Program to help students learn the things I’ve noticed many others wish they had known earlier in their college journey. I hope to support new students by sharing helpful tips about the school that can help them thrive both academically and emotionally. By exploring the school and connecting with the people in it, I’ve gained valuable knowledge that I’m excited to pass along. In my free time, I enjoy gaming, walking, dancing, and singing. If you ever need advice or just someone to talk to about your first-year experience, I’m here to help!
